How do you determine the spacing between coat hooks?

The Golden Rule of Basic Spacing
The spacing between clothing hooks should not be set arbitrarily; it requires careful consideration of garment thickness and ease of access. A standard recommendation is to maintain a spacing of 15–20 centimeters; this prevents garments from becoming crushed against one another while ensuring that the load on the hooks is distributed evenly. For bulkier outerwear, a minimum spacing of 20 centimeters is advised, whereas for lighter items like shirts, this can be reduced to 12 centimeters. Pay close attention to the wall material; for drywall (gypsum board), it is essential to embed internal reinforcements during installation.

Flexible Adjustments for Specific Scenarios
Children's Rooms: Lower the installation height to 1 meter and reduce the spacing to 10 centimeters to accommodate smaller hangers.

Entryways/Foyers: Employ a staggered layout (combining 25 cm and 15 cm intervals) to accommodate garments of varying lengths.

Humid Environments: Increase the spacing by 5 centimeters to promote airflow and prevent mold growth.

Corner Walls: Adopt a fan-shaped distribution pattern, allowing the spacing at the outermost edges to extend up to 30 centimeters.

Balancing Aesthetics and Functionality
Before proceeding with installation, try using a cardboard template to simulate the layout. The recommended height for the hooks above the floor is 1.8 meters (to suit the length of most standard hangers). For narrow wall sections, consider a vertical double-row design with a 5-centimeter offset between rows to prevent garments from overlapping. On light-colored walls, selecting dark-colored hooks creates a more visually harmonious look; for metal hooks, ensure that appropriate rust-proofing treatments have been applied.
